Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is a type of holistic treatment that uses natural plant extracts for health and wellness purposes.
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils (vegetable oils extracted from leaves, flowers and other parts) of which, those that have a pharmaceutical process can improve the health of the body, mind and spirit; enhancing both physical and emotional health. Some studies have shown that aromatherapy improves mood, pain, anxiety, nausea, vomiting, constipation, arthritis, etc.
Each (essential) oil has a characteristic aroma. In aromatherapy, essential oils (either alone or in combination with other essential oils) can be inhaled or used topically on the skin for sleep, headaches and other conditions.
Aromatherapy is considered a safe practice however, some oils can cause side effects, such as irritation of the eyes, skin or mucous membranes in your nose. They can also cause mild allergic reactions in infants, children, pregnant women and people with allergic symptoms. The user of essential oils should follow the advice of the specialist before using them.
*Aromatherapy does not eliminate or compete with classical medicine, but rather complements it, which is why most problems require medical attention.
